Focus more on pronunciation and memorization of kanji, rather than learning how to write the characters themselves. Since Japanese is a monosyllabic language, you can easily make a flash card system to strengthen your vocabulary and grow your word bank from there.
This will take practice & a true passion in being committed to learning the language, but I'm sure you can do it :)
(Also, do not focus so much on every grammatical rule, but rather start with learning the cadence and dialect of everyday casual conversation that you would have with family & friends, this can speed things up in some aspects).
