I don't have first hand experience with Team Fortress 2, but that particular game has been around for absolute ages. Most people who still play will probably have years of experience - which makes the skill gap pretty significant. (Maybe consider another game or only play with friends.)
You could use a distracting... 'spraypaint-thingy'...
